涙の無い感動。読了後　呆然。
悲壮感、喪失感、虚無感、孤独感、絶望感。
なんとも形容し難いブルーな感覚に陥りました。
「うわぁ、マジかんべんしてよもう。こんなのって。。」
という気持ちです。
男って、心が弱いからせめて体だけは強くできているのかも。
男にはちょっとつらい。
女性にとってはどうなんでしょう？

自分が主人公の立場だったら耐えられそうにも、
そして立ち直れそうにもないです。
実際読み終わってブルーな気分からしばらく立ち直れませんでした。
終わってからもう１度クライマックス付近を読み返すことでしょう。
そもそも誰が悪いのかと問われたら、
誰も悪くない様な、誰もが少しずつ悪い様な。
最善の選択なのか、仕方無しなのか、ずるさなのか。

そして、ではどうすれば良かったのか、と考えずにはいられません。
ラストで解るタイトル「秘密」の理由。
必読です。

少々、解釈の難しい物語だと感じた。この解釈の難しさは、おそらく、妻・直子の心情がいまいち掴みきれないからだと思う。
物語は、常に主人公・平介の視点で進む。平介の妻・直子の決意，苦悩，秘密…読者がこれらを知るのは、常に平介の視点からである。決意に至るまでの妻・直子の心情は、想像を膨らますしかない。妻・直子の心情の汲み取り方によって、この物語の解釈が変わってしまう。そして、妻・直子の心情の汲み取り方が、読了後の後味に繋がる。
「妻・直子の心情をどのように汲み取るか？」それが読み手に課せられた問題なのかもしれない。
良い作品である。是非とも読んで、妻・直子の心情に、思いを馳せていただきたい。

絶賛する人の多い一方、感情移入できない人や、しすぎて反感を覚える人も存在する本です。私自身は、沢山本を読む方ですが、読み終わった後、２０分程「呆然」としてしまう本に初めて出会いました。

意外な展開だけでは呆然とはしません。主人公たちの「想い」に衝撃を受けて、呆然とするのです。

身近に妻や夫や娘のいる人、その人を大切に思っている人ならば、素晴らしい作品だと素直に思えるのではないでしょうか。

夫婦というものが、恋人関係のような単純なものでない事を知っていれば、なおさら感じ取れる部分や場面が増えることでしょう。
