著者は靖国肯定派であり，中国・韓国何するものぞといった論調の本です．靖國論（小林よしのり著，幻冬舎）と似たような論旨です．

本書での靖国問題は「首相の靖国公式参拝に対して批判する中国などの諸外国の態度」であり，靖国神社そのものの是非や国として如何に戦没者を追悼すべきかというのはメインの議論ではありません．このように焦点が絞られている分，著者の主張は明快で，最終章の声明書なるものを読めば著者の言いたいことが大体分かるかと思います．この声明書は，中国・韓国を理詰めで説得するという真正面からのアプローチで，大変ユニークですが，理詰めで納得する相手かどうかというのが問題でしょう．

事実を知らずして靖国を語ることなかれという趣旨で書かれている本で，著者の意見が多いような気もしますが大変勉強になりました．また，戦争体験者の言葉として重みがあります．

上坂氏は昨今の靖国論議が歯がゆくて仕方ないようだ。
その点同感である。
本書で指摘があるように、
靖国のことを知らないままに、参拝の是非を議論できるはずもない。

靖国の建立の経緯、戦犯を裁いた東京裁判の正当性、
サンフランシスコ講和条約の意味、
もはや戦犯ではないとされた国会での決議。
こういった必要な知識が簡単に述べられているが、わかりやすい。
知れば知るほど中韓がもの申すのはいかがなものかと思うだろう。

首相の参拝自体に問題はない。
ここからは著者の考えではないが、
その上で問題と思うのは、独立国となった時点で
日本人自ら戦争を総括するべきだったということ。
今ある戦争の評価の多くは、
「真相はかうだ」などに代表される、
ＧＨＱの占領政策として行われた、戦前の価値観の徹底した否定にもとづくものだ。
Ａ級戦犯もその一部に過ぎない。
だが後に、マッカーサーが日本が戦争を始めた目的について、
「主に安全保障上のため」と言ったことは、
この戦争が単純な侵略戦争ではなかったことを物語っている。
こういった総括に触れようとすると思考停止する人もいるが、
それではいつになっても「戦後」から逃れられないのではないだろうか。

私は靖国神社がなぜ頻繁に取り上げられるのか知りませんでした。
本書を読んで、どこが争点かということを知ることができました。
「戦争」を肌で感覚として理解することはできませんが、こういう歴史があった
ことは日本人であるならば知っておかなくては恥ずかしいと感じました。
本書は、多分に著者の強い思いいれと事実の境目があいまいと感じる点がありました
が、これをきっかけに、類書を読んでみたいとおもいます。
