第1章のタイトルは「金融工学で金持ちになれるか？」ですが，その答えは「なれない」です．金融工学は，世の中にはそんなうまい話はないということを示す学問だと思えば良いでしょう．

本書では，分散投資の理論，「ベータ」投資理論，先物取引，オプションといったトピックに対して，比較的平易に，これらにまつわる話なども交えながら解説してあり，難しい話に疲れることなく読むことができます．

何冊か金融工学の本を読みましたが，やさしい例題で解説されており読みやすい本だと思います．

デリバティブ、現代ポートフォリオ理論を「全く」知らない人が読むと、多少難しく、ぶっきらぼうなところがあるかもしれないが、エッセンスが非常によくまとまっている。他にいろいろな基本書が出ているが、本書の内容に凝縮される。他の本を読んで、概念に慣れてから、もう一度頭の整理をするのに非常にいいと思う。

文庫本であることから、費用対効果が最も高い基本書の1つであろう。

金融工学というものを、あまり数式を用いずに説明している。金融工学の初歩をざっと見るには非常に良書。やや新書のレベルを超えているかな〜とおも思う。著者の一連の著作で素晴らしいのは、非常に読みやすいこなれた文章で説明されていることだろう。著者の「説明力」は本当に他を圧倒していると思う。

立ち読みで済ますには濃い内容と多い量。

再読するかどうかは、統計学への予備知識の量に依存すると思う。

類書は多い。代替は他書でも可能だとは思う。
