漢字一文字をタイトルとする短編集である本書は、そのタイトルがテーマそのものとなっており明快この上ない。わかりやすい、そして自分の心に馴染みやすいがゆえ、哀しくもあった。長崎市役所の原爆関連の部署で働く作者らしい視点、そして忘れ目を背けたい一方で、決して風化させまいとする努力が伝わってきた。人間はいつの時代でも人間であるしかないのだなと改めて思う。
しかし、なぜ日本における「きりしたん信仰」というある種特異な中心地に、世界で二つしか投下されていない（今のところ）原子爆弾は炸裂したのか。祈りと怒りが静かに渦巻く土地、長崎。何か悲しい運命を感じてしまう。

これぞ小説!!　と言わしめる短編集です。
登場人物はそれぞれまったく異なりますが、その根底に流れるのは
長崎原爆とキリシタン（過去の弾圧の経緯）が人々にもたらした「痛み」。
それが押しけではなく、ふわりと頬を撫でていく風のように、かすかな、
しかしいつまでもその余韻を感じる、そんな仕上がりになっています。

著者の以前の作品と比べて読み易い文体で、硬質な印象もなく、ポツポツ
と紡ぎだされたお話という感じでした。
信仰を持つが故の苦しみというものも感じられました。
素晴らしい作品だと思います。
