　行方不明になった友人に教えられた料亭。
　一人でしか行けなくて、場所も毎回替わって、取り立てて絶品の料理が並ぶ訳ではなく……一緒に一人の女性と食事を共にする……そしてその女性はその時、一回限り。

　なんとも不思議なそんなお店に、大学教授が通います。相手の女性は普通と言えば普通、「少し変わった子」と言えばそんな感じですし、「もう少し変わった子」と思えばそんな感じの女性になります。
　店に訪れる度に何かがあるのではと思いつつも、取り立てて何かある訳ではない。そのくせなぜか何かを考えたり、何か癒されたり、何かに突き刺されたりします。

　そんなことを何回か繰り返し……

　あぁ、ストンと地面が抜けるような怖さを久しぶりに味わいました。考えてみると、森博嗣さんの最初の作品「すべてがＦになる」でも味わった感覚のはずなんですけどね。こちらはそれよりもずっと純粋で…………いや、何がと言われると本当に困るんやけど……うーん、難しいですね、いやあ、あとこうなったら最高なんだけれども、というものがあるようには思うんだけれども、駄目だな、とても言葉になりそうもない。まあ、ようするに、また森博嗣さんの作品を読むしかないか……

読みながら、なんて静かなんだろうと感じました。これは初めての経験。
もちろん登場人物は普通に会話も交わすし、車や電車の描写も出てきます。
それでいながら音のない世界での出来事のよう。
静かに、小さな起伏を重ねながら物語は進みます。
それでいて最後には　ん？　お。　ああ。と思わせてもくれる。
いい本でした。

この本の表紙がなんだかかわいらしくて惹かれてしまった。
読んでみると不思議な雰囲気に包まれている。
無駄のない洗練され美しい仕草で食事を共にしてくれるだけの、名も知らぬ女性。
その食事の描写をよんでいるだけで、美しい洗練された食事の仕方とは、どんな仕草なのだろうと想像が膨らむ。
それにしても、謎は謎のまま終わるなんともいえない不思議な読後感！
お試しあれ！
