   平大成（たいらのおおなり）と中成（なかなり）の双子は、都では有名な薬師だ。彼らには頬にひとつずつコブがあった。ある日、薬草を採りに山に入った大成は道に迷い、偶然鬼たちの遊宴に遭遇してしまうが、命がけで舞い踊った大成は鬼たちに許されて、邪魔なコブを取ってもらう。しかし、鬼たちは彼に半月後、もう一度踊るよう強いる。双子の危機を知った「陰陽師」晴明と博雅は、鬼たちのいる山へと潜入するのだった。

   本書は、夢枕獏の公式ホームページ上で連載されたものである。あとがきにもあるように、本書は小説というより、絵本として作られた。村上は、夢枕の「陰陽師」シリーズの装画をずっと担当してきた。夢枕は以前から村上と「本文と絵が等分に入った物語」をやりたいと思っていたという。

   民話「コブ取り爺さん」を下敷きにしたストーリーには、いつもの陰陽師シリーズにあるオドロオドロしさはない。むしろひょうひょうとした温かみのある雰囲気に包まれている。それは、ここに収められた村上の40点以上にもおよぶカラー絵によるところが大きい。彼が描く物の怪たちは、どれもひょうきんでかわいらしい。安部晴明や源博雅も、たちまちユーモラスなおじさんになってしまう。

   さらに、通常の単行本よりは薄く小さい本のサイズや、表紙の手触りが和紙のそれに似て、いつもと違う雰囲気を肌で感じることができる。（文月 達）

鬼に魅入られた人を、晴明と、源博雅が助ける話。今回は、特に源博雅、大活躍です。

いいですねぇ。ほんのりとした、昔話を読んでいるみたいでした。
また、挿画が話の雰囲気と大変マッチしていて、盛り上げてくれてます。

話の内容も、文章も、挿画も、出てくる物の怪達も、晴明と博優も、どこか、ずっと遠い昔に聞いた話を読むような、郷愁を誘うような。
大人のための昔話です。

宇治拾遺物語の「鬼に瘤とらるること」（瘤とりの翁）をもとにして、いつものように清明が難題を解決するのに友人の博雅がからむお話。ほろほろと二人酒を飲み、「いこうか」「いこう」と不思議の世界にでかけて行く、おなじみの展開ではありますが、ここでは最後にこれまでの幾つかの話にでてきた妖怪たちも顔をだし、それがまた微笑ましくもあります。

獏さんの「陰陽師」シリーズのカバーを描いている村上豊さんの絵の、おどろおどろのなかに滑稽味のある雰囲気が獏さんの文となんとも調和してよい雰囲気になりました。文と絵のバランス、がよいのですね。文の間に、情景の想像を膨らませる小さな絵が入る。時間の経過を表すような見開きの、たとえば夜明けの空のような絵が、文章の作った時間の流れを少し変える効果を出す。そして、これは「なに重ね」というのでしょう、表紙の裏に重ねられた色も、一冊を素敵にまとめています。この色だけみていても和みます。版の大きささえ、大仰に大きすぎず、絵が小さくて物足りなくもならず、と考慮されいるようです。一冊の本として、よく完成している本です。「本」を楽しむことができる本、というのもよいものですね。

このまま、絵巻物につくってみせて欲しい、とも思います。読者のわがままですが、実現したら嬉しい。置き場所に困るでしょうけれど。

文庫などの陰陽師シリーズの中にはない良さがこの本にはありますね。
文字がびっしり並んでいて文庫には抵抗があるという方も安心です！行間に余裕があるし、挿絵もすごく色合いがきれいで風情があって話にぴったり。たかが絵本…ってナメちゃいけません！！

私は表紙の絵に惹かれて購入しましたが、内容もなるほど良かったです。まぁ言ってみれば、内容も絵も両方とも主役って感じですかね。字を読む気がしないときには、絵を眺めているだけでも楽しめると思います。
