5.0 out of 5 stars 短くても、力量を感じさせる戯曲集, 2007/1/29
悪童三部作に衝撃を受けて、戯曲集も読んでみました。

５作品全てに、アゴタ節はうまく効いてます。短い話ですが深い。
もうこの作者にはやられっぱなし。

個人的に気に入ったのは、わかりやすい「贖い」と「怪物」。

「贖い」の衝撃的な展開は短編ながらもゾクッとして後を残します。

「怪物」の中の、“怪物”は読む人にとって捉え方が変わると思いますが、私は戦後日本とアメリカ資本主義を想起してしまいました。

怪物も、扱い方次第なのかもしれません。

人間の汚らしさを淡々と語る美しい文章。

戯曲が5編入っているが、やはり印象が強いのがタイトルにもなっている怪物。
村に突然現れた怪物。最初は恐怖に怯えたが、怪物の魔力にとりつかれていく村人たち。やがて青年は怪物に近づこうとする村人を殺すようになる。

何が正気なのか。何が狂気なのか。

「悪童日記」三部作で有名な彼女の戯曲集です。
期待していたのですが、個々の戯曲が短く、内容も薄っぺらいので、あれっ、て感じに成ります。
解説も訳者の自己顕示欲の強い内容になっており、読んでいて不快です。
手淫や自傷行為に飽きて、やることが無い人が読むと良いと感じました。
