　今回は「あっ！」と思った。読んでいるときなぜか「重い」のだ。１，２作目は軽妙ですらすら話が進んでいたのだが、今回は「重く」感じた。しかしそんなことどうでもいいぐらいに今回もうまく事件を解決してくれたから良かったんだけどね。

　しかしタイトルにあるとおりお人よしだ。よく考えれば1作目から対して主人公は事件を解決している割には、得をしてない。警察官とは知り合いになったが。

主人公は落ちこぼれの私立探偵スタンリー・ヘイスティングズ。ある日、殺人課の部長刑事が彼に仕事を依頼してきた。調査をするにつれ彼は殺人事件に巻き込まれてしまう・・・というミステリー小説らしい話の流れだが、何といってもタイトル通り「お人好し」の主人公が普通っぽくて良い。どこまでも素人に近い探偵ぶりが笑わせてくれる、まさにユーモアミステリー。
