恩田 陸
1964年宮城県生まれ。早稲田大学卒。1992年、第3回日本ファンタジーノベル大賞最終候補作『六番目の小夜子』でデビュー。2005年、『夜のピクニック』で第2回本屋大賞、第26回吉川英治文学新人賞受賞。2006年、『ユージニア』で第59回日本推理作家協会賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

　恩田陸の学園モノって大好きです。
　この作品も学園モノです。かなり変わった学園ではありますが。
　
　舞台は未来の地球。厳密には地球と似ている星らしいです。溜まりに溜まったゴミのせいで、人々はこの星を捨て、違う星に移住しました。しかし、その後始末を押し付けられたのが日本人。日本は２０〜２１世紀の文化を非とし、封印します。その２０〜２１世紀の中心であった東京に建てられたのが「大東京学園」。熾烈な試験をくぐりぬけた者のみが入学を許されるエリート学校です。ここが話の舞台。
　
　過ぎ去った全盛期のサブカルチャーがふんだんに散りばめられていて、本当に面白いです。恩田陸を表わすのによく言われるのが「郷愁」の小説。これは未来の郷愁でしょうか？言葉は矛盾していますが、そう思えます。設定がＳＦチックなのにも関わらず、現実味を帯びているのは作者の筆力のなせる業でしょう。
　読み始めたら止まりませんでした。謎をはらんだ学園での脱走劇。小説を読んでいてワクワクしました。意外とも妥当とも思えるラストは恩田陸ならではの読後感に浸れてよかったです。
　巻末のサブカル辞典まで楽しく読めました。
　「ロミオとロミオは永遠に」という題名。作者本人はあとがきでなぜこの題名になったのか、納得のいく説明ができないようなことを言っていますが、僕にはなんてぴったりの題名なんだろうと思えます。
　う〜ん、恩田陸すごい！

タイトル通り途中までは非常に面白い作品でした.緊張感あふれる展開や作者の発想の面白さは並々ならぬと感じました.が，結末が納得できませんでした．問題に対して何の解決もされておらず問題からの逃避でしかないように感じました．世界観を考えると本文中の結末にしかたどり着かないのかもしれませんが．評価は，途中まで面白かったので星３つとしました．

13人の生徒たちが、学園からの脱走計画に翻弄していた。
憧れてやったの思いで入学した大東京学園からの、脱走。
活字であるはずの、物語が頭の中で鮮明に映像化されていく、文体の切れ味のよさ。そして、極上の人物構成。
一人の少女との出会いから、物語が様々に交差しだし【上】をも上回る物語の切れ味。

それぞれの想いが交錯するなか、学園最大のイベント「大東京オリンピック」が開催される。脱走するのにはこの日しかない。

アキラ・シゲルのいる現在から20世紀に繋がる道はあるのか？
恩田陸の初期の作品、独特のセンスが光る
至極の一冊です。

最後に微笑むのは、校長か。
はたまた彼らか。
