栗本 薫
別名に中島梓。東京生まれ。早稲田大学文学部卒。77年中島梓名義の「文学の輪郭」で群像新人賞評論部門を受賞。78年『ぼくらの時代』で江戸川乱歩賞受賞。以後、作家・栗本薫、評論家・中島梓を使い分けて多彩な文筆活動を展開する。小説作品は、ミステリ、SF、時代小説、耽美小説と多岐にわたる(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

最近のしつこい文体に比べれば
さほど
うざくない。
回想も多くない。
むしろ　おもしろい。

ですが、最後の最後の一文を読む限り
え、ええーっ！！！
最初に戻っちゃうんじゃないか
と心配しています。
まあ、筆者のことだから
そうじゃない展開に
するのかもしれませんが。

この本自体は可もなく不可もなく
の感想を持ちますが

ここまで読んできて

筆者のストーリー展開は
圧縮すればもっとすっきりするのでは
ないかとおもってしまう。

このあとすぐ！といわれて
長いＣＭを見ているような気分に
陥ることがたまにある。

売り上げ自体はよいのだろうが
ここまで読んだ以上
惰性、もしくは自分の持つ
疑問が解けるまでは
読まなきゃいけないと
思っていて
本屋に並ぶと
なんか買ってしまう

そんな義務的動機の
購入者によっても
売り上げが
支えられていることも
念頭に置くべきかと思います。

グインとアモンの最後の決着がつけられます。場所は星船の中。しかし、これで一気に宇宙に戻るのか、と思いきや、グインは意外な判断をくだします。もったいないと思う反面、再び記憶をなくすグインの行く末が心配です。早く次が読みたくなる巻でしょう。

しょせん・・・と、いっては身もふたもないが、小説世界は作者のものであり、それをどう発展させようが、読者が文句を言う筋合いはないので、その点について苦言は言わない。

少なくともノスフェラスの奥地にあるという「星の船」については、グィンサーガ初期の段階から伏線は仕込まれていたものだ。こういう展開になることは、予想できるはず、と言われかねない。

それにしても登場人物たちのだらだらと続く長セリフはどうにかならないものか。本来状況描写として描きそうな場面も、セリフの中で説明しているし、都合よく様々な解説をはさんでくれる説明口調のコンピュータ（！）まで登場してしまい、ますます拍車をかける。
唯一の救いは最後の展開。今後への期待を抱かせる・・。
