　ハヤカワJAに初お目見えのながらも、いつもの新城カズマの衒学的な語り口。
これに知的好奇心を揺さぶられるか、嫌悪感を感じるかで、評価が大きく分かれるところ。

　物語は、本好きで早熟な高校生達--主人公はスペイン語の原書でボルヘスを読み、
友人は表紙を見ただけでそれを指摘出来るぐらい(!?)--が、時間跳躍を発現させた仲間の能力を
伊達と酔狂で検証していく、いつもの夏休みの日々。
　……と見せかけつつ、本当は『あらかじめ失われた未来』についての物語。

　「もし」「たら」「れば」が多用され、高校生特有の伊達と酔狂と性急と好奇心がない交ぜになった
夏休みの一コマに、未来に起きるであろう事件の暗い影がじわりじわりと忍び寄ってくる如き語り口が、
何と絶妙で、何と見事なことか。
　否が応でも、続きが気になってしまいます。
　後編である２巻でどのように決着が付けられるのか、期待せずにはいられないです。

ゆっくりと腐っていく地方の一都市の夏休み、
閑をもてあます高校生たちの仲間の一人が、ある時偶然、
3秒間だけ時間を跳び越えてしまったことから始まる、
熱狂的な時間跳躍の研究と実験、そして緩慢な崩壊…。

「フィクションとして時間旅行が存在する現代」を舞台に
している作品にはよくあるパターンとして、時間旅行に
対する愛に溢れています。

登場する猫の名前が
<チェシャ、ク・メル、ペトロニウス、ハミイーあるいはジェニィ>！
なんて素敵な！

時間旅行好きはもちろん、SF好きの方にも、諧謔に富んだ
文体が好きな方にも、青春小説好きの方にもオススメです。
あと、恩田陸的少年少女SF活劇が好きな向きにも是非。

面白い。そう断言していいだろうと思う。
ただまあ、話の中核を担うのは「青春物語」である。
ので、こうハードＳＦっ…ていう感じはしない。でもない。

ああ、あと、２巻まで読んだ後、オチに納得できるかもかなり賛否が分かれそう。
ちなみに、僕は納得できない…ような、納得してしまうような。
いや、うん、タイトルどおりです。
