　児童小説として書かれたもののため、文学的な技巧や読者の人生を展開させるほどの深さはありません。でも、そのぶん、さっと手に取って、さっと読んで、ほんわか心に残る感動がこのシリーズにはあります。
　シリーズを貫くのは、どんなに悪い人間でも、生まれながらに悪いやつはいない、といういわば性善説の捉え方。この物語には根っからの悪人は一人も出てこないのです。「そんなのウソだ！」というかもしれません。また「甘すぎる」といわれるかもしれません。もちろん、現実世界では（残念ながら）ウソであるのは間違いないし、小説としても甘いです。でも、そんな野暮なことを少しも感じさせずにさらりと語ってしまう力がこの筆者にあるわけですね。
　ドロドロした現代小説にうんざりしたあきたら、一服の清涼剤として「ドラゴン・ファーム」をいかが？

この本に出てくるドラゴンは、これまで読んだり見たり（もちろん実在しないけど）した、どんなドラゴンとも違います。実在するいろんな動物の魅力が、いっぱいに詰まっているのです。犬のように賢かったり、猫のように愛らしかったり、また馬のように逞しかったり･･･。登場人物も、ドラゴンに負けず劣らず個性的で、魅力的です。特にディーディーは、美人で勝ち気で高飛車･･･なのに憎めない。フュンフと好対照で、二人の仲も気になります。早く続編が読みたい！と思わせる一冊でした。
