森岡 浩之
1962年兵庫県生まれ。京都府立大学文学部卒。サラリーマン生活を経て1991年「夢の樹が接げたなら」で第17回ハヤカワ・SFコンテストに入選、同作品が誌に掲載され、作家デビューを飾る。入選後は、同誌を中心にシリアスなSF短篇の発表を続け、1996年『星界の紋章』全3巻を、早川書房より刊行。特異な銀河帝国を舞台にしたこの作品は、エンターテイメントの楽しさと、豊かなSF性をあわせ持つ、新しいかたちのスペースオペラとして高く評価され、第28回星雲賞を受賞、テレビ・アニメ化された(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

　故郷を思うが故のジントの決断が切ない。そんな中のラフィールとの時間はそこが彼の帰る場所であるかのようです。
出会った頃とはあきらかに違うラフィールとジントとの距離、長年連れ添った夫婦のようであり、恋人のようでもある。
この巻ではそんな二人がみれると思います。

２年半もの間待っていた星界シリーズの本編『星界の戦旗III』登場です。

今回はジントの生まれ故郷マーティンで、ジントの支配者としての問題と向かい合う。 侵略者であるアーブに寝返る形をとったジントの行為の意図を、友人や家族を含む領民達は理解してくれるのか？
マーティン人とアーブの違いを感じつつ、この問題に答えを出そうとするジント。 そんなジントを見つめるラフィールは、自分とジントが異なる人種であることを再認識してしまう。

故郷の問題を解決したジントはラフィールと共に、新しい世界に進むのだろう。
この本を手にとり、広大な星界の世界を心に描こうではないか。

　ファン待望の第３巻。今回はいよいよジントが故郷であ るハイド伯国の問題に向き合う巻となっている。

　前巻までの比較的明るい雰囲気を壊すことのないストーリー展開はさすが。ただ登場人物がいたずらに不幸にならない分、ストーリー的にはやや平凡さ、安易さが感じられた。ジントと故郷の問題は星界シリーズの中でも重要なテーマのひとつだっただけにやや物足りなさを感じた。

　以上やや否定的なことを書いたが、上記のことを差し引いても面白い作品。「星界」ファンはもちろんそうでない人にもぜひ読んでほしい一冊。
