3.0 out of 5 stars 幸運の戦車か、はたまた呪われた戦車か, 2001/12/25
　マヘル‐シャラル‐ハシ‐ハズという長い名をつけられた故に、数奇な運命をたどることになった戦車と、その操縦士たちの物語。

　マヘル‐シャラル‐ハシ‐ハズに意志を与えようとする野生コンピュータや、人類の理解を超えた異生体、機械生命体との戦争という著者の代表作「戦闘妖精・雪風」にも共通するモチーフに、「雪風」とはまたちがった切り口から挑んだ意欲作。
「雪風」との最大の違いは「主人公たちが脳天気である」ということだろう。

　いつも酒ばかり飲んでいる主人公たちにのせられて、なんだか酔っぱらったような酩酊感と共に、一気に読み終えてしまった。
　とにかく機械であれ、人間であれ、難しいことはさておき生きているということは素晴らしいことだ、と単純に感じさせてくれる作品。
　惑星ドーピアという奇妙な惑星の歴史の謎があかされていく経緯も、読み応え在り。

植民惑星で鉢合わせした異星人同志が始めた戦い。
そこでしたたかに生き延びる一台の戦車にまつわる物語。
おかしな三つ巴の様相を呈する惑星の状況設定は興味深いが、メインの楽しみとなったのは登場人物達のどこか達観した台詞。
終盤は急ぎすぎる感がある。
