……なんちゅうタイトルだと思って購入。そして、結果は大当たり。

駆け出し女性考古学者ヒルディが、スコットランドで発掘した遺跡に
保存されていたのは、盗掘一切なしの、完璧なヴァイキングの大型船。
そして船の中には財宝……ではなくて、13人のヴァイキングの死体。否、悪の魔法使いの王と戦うことを運命づけられて眠りについていた、
13人の戦士たち（！）。

1000年前の知識と服装と言葉づかいのまんま、現代によみがえった戦士
たちは、浦島太郎どころの騒ぎじゃありません。
畢竟、ヒルディは彼らの世話を焼いて走り回ることになり、
気がついたら「地上の星」ロルフ王の顧問に。
そして更に気づいてみると、魔法使いの王との対決の時は、
論文の締切より先に迫りくるではないか……！という筋立てです。

ユーモアファンタジーに分類されるのでしょうけれど、
考証もしっかりしているし、知識がなくてもすらすら頭に入ります。
そしてなにより、出てくる人々が魅力的なので、
一気に読み進むことができました。大当たりだった一冊です。

物語のラストか本当に素敵なので、くれぐれも結末を最初に読んだり
する、なんて暴挙には走らぬようにご注意を。
