長大なファンタジー「時の車輪」の序章。私は同時に第５部「竜王戴冠」を読んでいるのだが、この「竜王伝説」の序章は、まさにファンタジーの王道を往く感じがする。どこにでもいるような羊飼いの若者が、女性異能者から旅に出るように言われる。そして、不気味な黒い騎士の存在。これらは、かのファンタジーの金字塔「指輪物語」の世界を踏襲しているのだ。そこから、第５部の「竜王戴冠」での今っぽいスピード・ファンタジーにどう移行していくのか楽しみだ。

tWoTの第１部です。tWoTは今まで９部ありますが、 まだ終ってません。この第１部は本の序章しかないと言って も過言ではありません。しかし、十分魅力あります。 本の冒頭の部分はちょっとペースが遅いってところも あるが、ストーリーが進みにつれ、だんだんペースアップし 面白くなっていきます。本の最後の部分は、まだまだ 終らないよっていうメッセージがはっきりと伝わってきます。 要するに、極めてお薦めの１冊です。
