並行宇宙ものという点では『量子宇宙干渉機』や『発狂した宇宙』、『重力の影』などがありますが、
微妙な違いでも全然違う世界でもなく、
クロマニヨン人が進化した世界とネアンデルタールが進化した世界を想像／創造して対比させる労力は大変なものでしょう。
ネアンデルタールの世界での時間体系から社会制度、生殖方法から裁判制度まで、
堅実な世界観の設計がなされており、
それはこの１作だけではたんなる紹介に留まっているように見えるほど、非常に盛り沢山です。

３部作の序にあたるというせいもあるのでしょうが、本作単独でみるといちおうポンターが元の世界に帰ることで区切りはつきますが、
ほとんど広げられた風呂敷（伏線）は畳まれていないといって過言ではありません。
明らかにされるのは量子コンピュータの作動原理くらいでしょうか。
これまでの作品でも伏線の張り方においては水準以上の作品を発表したきたソウヤーだけに、
これらの設定と伏線を使って後の２作でどのような展開がなされるのかが楽しみです。

ネアンタールの量子物理学者の主人公が、量子コンピューターで大きな因数分解の計算中に並行宇宙の人類地球へ飛ばされてしまった。
と言う話です。

ネアンタールという立場から見た人類世界の異常性が描かれています。

三部作だということで、今後の展開に期待！！

どう考えてもイロモノとしか思えない設定とあらすじだから、あんまり期待してなかったんだけど、なんだよ、面白いじゃねーの。ソウヤーはうまいなぁ。

並行宇宙ものは、通信しかできないとか、一方通行だとか、いろいろ制限がついて、その制限が面白さのポイントになることが多いんだけど、本作品ではいっさい制限なし。その代わり、世界のこっちと向こうでの文化の違いが非常に大きい……ってつまり、並行世界ものじゃなくてファーストコンタクトものとして読めばいいってことか。そういうことか。

なんにせよ、続編に期待。
