最初の方は、なかなか進まないが
最後の数十ページに、映画ではあらわせない
全知全能ともいうべき領域にはいってくる。
２１世紀に突入しても謎だらけの
広大な宇宙、それにいどむＳＦがある。

これほど何回読んでも発見がある一冊はないですよね。いや、むしろ発見したいから読んでる
のかも、、

ボーマンとHAL9000のやりとりはスリリングだし、宇宙の描写、とりわけ木星や、土星、そし
てスターゲートを抜けた後の描写は凄いに尽きる。
スターゲート後のめくるめくような展開は、いい意味で淡々としてるというか、あまりの事故
に理解が追いつかないですよね。だからページをめくる手を止めれなくて病みつきになる。

クラークの先見性には脱帽もんだが、今思えば全体的な時代の構想より、もっと内面的な描写
が優れてると思う。例えばフロイド博士が宇宙へ向かう最中に世界のニュースをピックアップ
したものをディスプレイでみながら感慨浸る場面、そうやって便利になればなるほど、物事が
滑稽に見えてくるという、そうゆう人間の精神の向かう先を予測していたクラークは本当に
凄い。

後、個人的に好きなのは第五部のET論の部分とかかな。考えてみれば地球外の知的生命がいれ
ば別に人間みたいな格好じゃなくてもいい訳だしね。そうゆうユーモアというのか何というの
かイメージをかきたててくれる所もいいです（限りなく僕だけのツボかもしれませんが・）。

ラストのスターチャイルドの部分は何か神秘的だと言う人が多いが、僕が思うにあれほど単純
で潔い結末はないんじゃないかなぁ〜と思ったりしますね。まぁそれは人それぞれですが。

長くなりましたが、何はともあれSFファンにも、そうじゃない人にもお奨めの一冊ですよ!
きっとワクワクをあなたにくれます。

この小説版を読んでつくづく思ったのが、自らの想像力の低さと、文章から思い描く為の知識が不足している事でしょうか。
映画ではストーリーはなにかと端折られ、ナレーション一つ無い（意図的にカットされた）故に難解なモノとなってはいる。
というか、映画から、小説に書かれた解説を導き出すのは99％不可能でしょう。

しかしながら小説を読んだ後に映画を観ると、小説では満足に思い描けなった部分が想像を遥かに超えるレベルで映し出され、映画が如何に優れていたかと再認識しました。
また、映像化が難しい部分はバッサリ省いてしまうという、その思いっきりの良さも素晴らしいかと思う。

客観的視点故か、喜怒哀楽といった感情を起こさせる事は然程なく、感動するような小説じゃありませんが、映画でのモヤモヤが解消されたので良かったです。

ただ同時に、映画ので神秘性が一気に失せてしまったのも事実ですが。
