直球ミステリ
怪しい状況の中怪しい人物揃いの中

『フランスのカー』と評されるアルテの邦訳第二弾
前作はメタミステリを思わせる内容で曲球といった趣でしたが
今回は、密室の中で調理された死体、行方不明の双子、犯罪に造詣の深い奇術師、甦る死体
繰り返される死体出現のシーンや複数のサブプロットの有機的結合
と本格ファンが喜ぶ趣向満載のがちがちの直球
カーの後継者たるゆえんを楽しんでください

最近のお気に入りの作家。
が、この作品、単独で読めば面白いし、謎も湯気の出る料理に体を倒して死んでいる、死後24時間たった死体、という風に興味深いものなのに、なぜか物足りなかった。「第四の扉」、「赤い霧」の読後感が良すぎたせいだろう。

密室をメインに読者を楽しませようという心意気に星はそれでも4つ。
