財政破綻しそうな離島の町が、
現状の打開に立ち上がり着実な成果を挙げている、
ということが書かれた本。

すばらしい内容だと思った。

町の魅力を掘り起こし、
売れる商品を開発し、
人材を育成し。

困難を乗り越え、町とそこに住む人が再生していく。

プロジェクトＸみたいだな、と思った。

島根県の隠岐の島の左下に人の住む三つの島がある。そのうちの中ノ島は全体で海士(あま)という町を形成する。古くは後鳥羽上皇が流されたのもこの島だという。
が、過疎が進み、高齢化し、町の財政は眼前に破綻の二文字がちらつく。
そんな中で(紆余曲折を経て)町民が一丸となって、町の再建に取り組み、少しずつ成果を挙げていく。
ムラ社会という信頼関係があるが故に成り立つ危機意識の共有と島に対する愛着。それをプラスにしていく「戦略」の見事さには、途中で涙すらした。
あまり派手さのないタイトルだが、結構感動ものだった。
