朝鮮の民話にでてくる妖怪や動物は大和とは一寸違います。でも良く似たものも少なくありません。また、大和に比べ、血の濃さを重んじ、親族で濃密な付き合いをし、母親と息子の絆もかなり強い。朝鮮の一昔前の暮らし、風俗、家の造りなどに興味が持てました。子供にも分かりやすいよう丁寧に書かれていますが単調のきらいはあります。

韓国狂いの私ですが、今回３冊目となる筆者の本を楽しんで読まさせていただきました。韓国の民話を通して、文化を知ることができます。韓国の民話は、初めてよみますが、日本に民話にも良く似たものがあって比較すると面白いです。なんといっても筆者の絶妙な解説がついているというのが、お勧めです。わかりやすいし、なるほどと思うところもたくさんあります。私は夜子供を寝せるときにこの民話を読んで聞かせ、解説も分かりやすくしてあげています。子供も楽しみにしています。次世代に韓国文化を知らせるにもとてもいい本です。

読みやすく、わかりやすい。韓国の民話と日本の民話は共通するところも多いけれど、ちょっと違う。「古事記」「日本書紀」「今昔物語」「万葉集」にも言及、易しい比較文学論・比較文化論とも言える。逆バージョンの「民話で知る日本」を書いて日本の民話を韓国にも紹介して欲しい。できれば、日本語対訳で。
