　いかにも広瀬隆らしい作品であり、誰にも真似の出来ないものであると言えよう。系図を駆使するこの手法は、彼の主著である『赤い盾』から綿々と受け継がれているものである。果たして「血の濃さ」がそれほどまでに重要なものであるのか？に関しては、私自身は、現代に至るまでまだ自分は判断がつかないところであるが、例えば本書300-301頁の系図に見られる現大統領G.ブッシュと、「2000年の大統領選当確判定責任者」John　Ellisの関係などは衝撃的であると言えよう。

いずれにせよ、広瀬は彼自身の分析法を編み出したわけであり、その信じられないほど複雑かつ膨大な系図や、それを用いて叩きつける様に語る分析を読んでいると感嘆せざるを得ない。実際、このような物を次々と書き続ける彼のバイタリティーを見る時、自分自身の不勉強さを恥じるばかりである。

誰かが読み難いと書いていたが、確かにその点に関しては私も感じることがままあり、あまりにも縦横無尽に話が展開されるため、一体誰が誰なのか混乱することもある。一つには慣れの問題であろうが、本作の場合、いつもであれば巻末に付けられるはずの索引が今回は無いのが実に残念である。

また、広瀬の著作を読んでいて常々感じることであるが、参考文献リストを付けてもらいたいと切に願う次第である。彼の場合、絶版、未翻訳の資料などを活用することが多いであろうことは想像に難くないが、しかし、参考文献リストが無ければ読者が彼の作品からより知識を深めていくことが困難に成ると思うのである。

また、出来ることならば『赤い盾』でも予告していることであるから、早い時期に朝鮮半島の分析を書いてもらいたいと切に願う次第である。

一般の歴史書がすべて真実を記している事はない、あくまで歴史である、学校の教科書が正しい歴史観を全部伝えているとはいえない、中東問題をまるで対岸の火事、どこか遥か遠くの異国の地で起きている宗教観の対立、石油利権の対立問題という極めて皮相的な、表層的な歴史の捉え方では真実は見えてこないし知り得ない、確かに古代時代からの連綿と連なる日本の歴史も必要だが、今必要のは我々が生きている現代史の深遠を紐解く真の歴史書である、その意味で洞察力を磨くためにも本著は一読の名著である

資源獲得のための最終手段を戦争とすると、本書はまさにその因果関係を的確かつ詳細に捉えた秀逸なものである｡拙著『ロマノフ家の黄金』、『赤い楯』から連綿と続く著者のライフワークである世界一大派閥（一家）の世界戦略が垣間みることが出来て、大変興味深いものになっている｡世界史の裏側を知りたい人にぜひお勧めの一作である｡
