小さな単行本ですが、必要な知識のほとんど全てが、無駄なく凝縮されています。
２年ほど前、自宅庭で西洋芝を育てたいと思い、参考書籍を数冊買いましたが、今では、この本以外は参照する機会がなくなり全て処分しました。これから芝を始める方に最適の参考書だと思います。
誰もが最初に抱く疑問について、例えば、
・芝生とはどういう植物で現在どんな種類の芝が使われているの？
・私の住んでいる場所では、どの種類を選べばいいの？
・地面を耕したり、種まき前に何をすればいいの？
・種まき、または芝張りはどうやるの？
・芝が育ったら散水、施肥、芝刈りはどのようにするの？
・それ以外に、いつどのような頻度でどんな作業をすればいいの？
・やっぱり病気になったりするの？薬剤散布は必要なの？
以上、これらの疑問は全てこの本を読んで解決できました。
これからもずっと手元に置いて都度読み返したい本です。

これまで知らなかった、目土、肥料、サッチ掻き、エアーレーション、芝の種類、雑草の種類、オバーシーディングなどについてよくわかりました。花や野菜を一生懸命栽培している人は近所にたくさんいますが、芝は水をやり、たまに刈ること以外には何もしないで、やがて枯らしてしまう方が多いので、この本を読んでたいへんためになりました。また、「芝生のある庭」で、理想的なすばらしくきれいな芝生を見て、自分も立派な芝生を作ってみたいと思うようになりました。
