　時々雑誌などで「永田農法」で作った野菜の通信販売が載っていたので名前だけは知っていましたが、「永田農法」がどういうものかはこの本を読むまでは良く知りませんでした。　内容は、糸井重里氏の「永田農法」を知るきっかけと、できた野菜のうまさやNHKの番組制作の話などから始まり、実際に　こぐれひでこ　さんが永田氏の指導のもと、畑で野菜作りをするところを写真と解説で説明しています。また、都会のオフィス街のビルのテラスで、プランターを使用した方法を同様に紹介しています。最後に永田氏のおいしい野菜の話などが続きます。ほどよいボリュームで最後までおもしろく読めました。
　乾燥がちで肥料分の少ない土や赤玉土と川砂と液体肥料だけの野菜作りは、様々な土や肥料を使用しないといけないという固定観念を持っていると、びっくりしますし、実際にやってみるのは勇気がいります。何でもそうですが教科書と実際にやるのとは微妙に異なっていて、先生に教えてもらいながら、ある程度コツをつかまないとうまくいかない事があります。野菜も短くても１ヶ月程度は時間をかけないとできませんので、出来れば実際に永田農法を体験できる場を紹介していれば良いと感じました。

前々作と比べ、だんだん内容が軽薄になってきて本作では、ほとんど
さわりだけの紹介となってしまった。お手軽に永田農法の雰囲気を
味わえるという程度。糸井重里がプロデュースするようになってから
だと思うが女性週刊誌のような構成で企画で本を売るような作り方が
されており本来の蔬菜園芸の一手法の本としては入門書だとしても
不十分だし、以前の著者の本に記載されている内容から判断しても
必要な情報を絞りすぎて誤解を受けるような記述も見られる。
ポイントを要約してしまえばこのレビュー欄に全て書ける程度の
情報量となっており残念。

永田農法うんぬんという前に、野菜を、しかもかなり美味い野菜を、水やりやら肥料やら土づくりやら、どれだけ平易そうな体裁の本であってもついてまわるややこしい話しを抜きにですね、「よっしゃ。作ってみるか！」という気にさせてくれる本です。で、あっけにとられる程のあっけなさで家庭菜園はスタートすることでしょう。
