章ごとに東大教養学部の教授各人に任せ、
それぞれ全く違う語り口で展開されるのが色が出て大変面白い。

直接的に本を紹介すると、内容を飛び出ない紹介になるし、
場合によってはその人の読み方が押し付けられてしまうかもしれない。
しかし、この本ではそれぞれの教授が語るストーリーや対談の中に
本が自然と出てくる（場合によっては出てこないときもある）ので
ストーリー自体を興味深く読んだ上で、
それについてもっと知りたい、同じようなことを考えてみたい、
と感じることで自然と読者が本の紹介に移れるのだ。

それぞれが勝手なフォーマットで勝手に語っていて、
網羅しようとしていないところが
「紹介本」としてではなく一冊の「本」としての価値を持たせていると思う。

これを読むと、読みたい本が一気に増えてしまって困るかもしれないが、
幅広い分野に興味を持ちたい人には
指導の意味のガイドとしてというよりモチベーションをあげるという意味で
いいブックガイドになると思う。

「知の技法」、「知の論理」らにも衝撃を受けましたが、それ同様に衝撃を受けたのがこの本です。
まさに、大学生における必読の入門書と言えると思います。
特に、2章の小林康夫先生といろんな先生たちとの対談の場面は、「知」とは「教養」とはをさらに考えさせてくれます。
今、大学生がどう勉強するのかを模索してるなかで、この本と早く出会えるかが、そしてこの本からいろんな本に出会っていくことが、問題解決の近道と言えると思います！

　大学出版は外部の人間がその大学の門戸を叩くことの出来る本といえるかもしれません。そして、東大は特に気になる大学です。
　この本はその東大教授が考える「教養」、そしてそれに結びついた本が列挙され、勉学に目覚めた方が遅れを取り戻す良いきっかけになると思います。
　また、東大教授は人間的にも固いというイメージ（偏見？）を持っていましたが、座談話では、大変魅力的な方だと驚きました。
　「教養」は万人に開かれた人類の知的遺産です。それをより多くの人に知ってもらいたいです。
