ある程度は腕が立つけど、なんとなく頼りない賞金稼ぎさんと意思の強さと頭の回転の良さが際立つ（とりえがそれだけっぽいことが悲しいですが）少年が主人公というのが、面白いです。実力に余裕が無いギリギリ感が私は好きです。
悪魔と呼ばれている異形と戦う物語なのはありきたり感もありますが、実際にはその異形にもちゃんと社会があって、同族を思いやっていて、ただ化け物というよりは好感が持てました。
異形をやっつけることがメインでは無いみたいで、戦闘シーンがあっさりしていて読みやすかった。人間（異形も？）の内面に意識のある、次作以降読み応えのある作品に育っていく期待感が持てました。
よく言えばフレッシュ、悪く言えば慣れていない感がありますが、最後まで飽きずに読めました。
少年以外の登場人物の背景などについて殆ど何も分からなかったので、次巻以降明らかになるのかな？
普通なら３にするのですが、次の巻に期待ということで４に…。次巻を楽しみにしています。

最初は「これってＳＦなの？西部劇なの？」という感じでしたが、
作者独特の世界観を持った冒険ファンタジーと理解してからは、
物語に集中できました。

主人公は、カッコいいヒーローではなく、やさぐれ気味な賞金稼ぎ。
（最初、表紙のイラストの彼とのギャップに困惑しました。）

その彼が、ふとした事で出会う少年との絆を深めていく物語。


正直、この巻だけでは消化不良なトコロもありますが、
本巻の続き「背徳者の旅路」も発売されています。

このパライソ星での物語も、この次巻で完結しますので、
興味のある方は是非、２巻一気読みをオススメします。

捕食した生物のＤＮＡを取り込んで進化する生物が敵役という、ＳＦとしてはありきたりなストーリ。
登場人物もこなれていない。どうやら最初から連作を見込んで書いているようだが、この程度の作品を連作させるようでいいのか、中央公論？
この（連作見込みの）為か、作中人物が（も）描けていないし、設定自体もかなり不自然である。一読後、本当に正規の製品か？と疑ったくらいのできであるｗ
中古として売る値打ちもないと判断、ゴミ箱直行とあいなりましたとさ、チャンチャン。
