特異な誘拐事件の展開が実にリアルでスピーディで、一連の事件の進行そのものだけでも十分に堪能できる。。。しかし何より、
対照的な二人の女性警察官と、これを取り巻く男性陣の人物描写が興味深い。

男性読者である自分としては、優しく繊細な美咲に肩入れしつつ、男勝りのパワーと嗜好を持つ基子の姿に拍手を送りたくなる。
と、この対照的な二人のサクセスストーリー、あるいはロードプレー的な小説家と思ったら大間違い。
なんと、もっともっと魅力的で、悪で、深い闇の主人公の存在が明らかにされきる。
うーん、これは、何ともはまる。

時に、事件描写、その仕掛けやトリックがおもしろいと、人物が薄くなり、また人物描写がおもしろいと事件そのものが雑という小説も間々あるが、
本作品は、事件、人物、どちらも実にリアルで、深く、多彩で、しかもスピーディな展開は読者を飽きさせない。
いやぁ、本当におもしろい。
一級のハードボイルド、エンターテインメント小説と言えるだろう。

このジウシリーズに「感動」を期待すると肩透かしをくらいますが、
面白い本が読みたいということでしたら、
絶対おすすめです。
多少グロいですが、これぐらいのグロさで辟易していたら、
おもしろいものにはなかなか当たらないでしょう。


この１巻は「２４」などのアメリカものの焼き直しという感が強いですが、
とにかく読ませます。


わたしはシリーズ完結を待って、
３巻一気に読みましたが、
どうせ読むなら３巻一気がいいでしょう。
サラリーマンの盆休みにおすすめです。

描かれるのは対照的な女性。
モデルのように背の高い、涙もろく、性善説をまっすぐに唱える美咲。
男勝りのたくましさで女性初のSWAT隊員に選ばれ、破壊への衝動を押さえつけながら愛を軽蔑する基子。

二人をめぐり、ドラマは動く。
誘拐事件、たてこもり、強姦未遂、犯人のアジトへの強襲。
二人にもっとも近い男性それぞれも巻き込まれ、傷つき、一人は愛ゆえに死んでゆく。
凄惨な事件の裏に見えかくれする、およそ情を持たない少年、「ジウ」。

ジウは何を思い、この事件を起こすのか？

おそらくは壮大なドラマの序章なのだろう。
刮目して、次を待て。
