1952年10月、東京都生まれ。成蹊大学文学部卒。出版社勤務を経て、78年にエッセイ『知的悪女のすすめ』を発表。85年より小説を手がけ、89年「妻の女友達」で第四二回日本推理作家協会賞(短篇部門)、96年『恋』で第一一四回直木賞、98年『欲望』で第五回島清恋愛文学賞、2006年『虹の彼方』で柴田錬三郎賞を受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

読み終わってから
これは本当に
小池真理子の本かなぁ
とボンヤリ思った。
小説として
どうこうというか
こういう気持ちは
みんな持ってるもの
なんだなぁ…
としみじみ。
もうちょっと
突っ込んだ描写も
見てみたかった。
恋愛してない時に
読むのがお薦めです。
不思議ながら。

　読み終わった後、何となく後味が悪い。
　親友の突然の死とその不倫相手、そして、新たに出てきた盗聴器。なんだかサスペンス的な要素を期待しました。後で繋がっている・・みたいな。
　しかし、何も繋がっていなかった。何も解決もしていない。親友の死が実は・・とか盗聴魔が実は・・とか、話の流れ的に普通それを期待するのではないでしょうか？　小池真理子の本初心者なのでよくわかりませんが。以前読んだ、「無伴奏」が大変よかったので、二冊目、これを購入したのですが、なんだかなぁという感じ。

空虚な恋愛関係と分かっていながら愛されたいがために求めてしまう苦悩。
身も心も体当たりに恋愛しないと心が擦り切れてしまうという事を読者に問いかける物語なのかもしれません。
