著者が子供たちへ、祈るように書いた遺言（遺産）が本書となった。
次男は「国家の品格」の著者でもある藤原正彦氏である。

日本人である一人の女性の満州引き揚げの苦難を綴った手記である。
生まれたばかりの赤ん坊を含め子供３人を連れての引き揚げは想像を
絶する苦難があった。過酷な状況の中で子供を連れて生きることの
辛さと責任感、そして愛情が伝わってくる。

夫からの「子供たちをたのむよ」の言葉への責任感、食料のない状況で子供３人
と自分自身を餓死させないためのぎりぎりの選択、そして子を思う母の愛情と
母を思う子の健気さに胸を打たれる。

人は極限においてその本性を見せるのであれば、著者は責任感と愛情の塊である。
その本性は、満州引揚げを果たした後も子供たちへ遺産を残そうとこの本を
書かせた。

産後１ヶ月の女性一人で、生後１ヶ月の赤ん坊と３歳と６歳の男の子を命がけで
日本に連れて帰って来たのである、並大抵のエネルギーではない。

夫の言う「流星のもっていたエネルギーは何かに変換されて生きている」
（流星とエネルギー不滅の法則）の通り「流れる星は生きている」を通して
この本を手にする読者にエネルギーが変換されていくだろう。

子を思う親の愛情（エネルギー）に触れるためにも是非読んで貰いたい。

満州からの母一人、子三人の壮絶な引き上げ記録です。
何度読んでも著者の強さ（根性、体力、そして子供たちに対する愛）に感動させられます。涙なしでは読めません。

感動です。ここまで人は強くなれるのかと。
戦後に死線をさまよった次男の正彦さんは
無事帰国後、長じて数学者になりました。
コロラド大学助教授・お茶の水大教授に
までなりまがら、国語教育の重要性を主張していらっしゃいます。
文藝春秋『日本の論点』の常連でもあります。

無事に帰国できて、本当によかった。
