膨大な古文書を、たったの３巻のマンガにまと
めるというのは、無理があったようで、文字数
が多すぎるのが難点でした。

巨匠が描く三部作の中巻です。
横山光輝系の歴史漫画を読み込んだ人などにも、
是非女性作家により描かれた繊細な作風を楽しんでいただきたいです。
ただ、「吾妻鏡」というタイトルになっているものの、
「平家物語」や「源平盛衰記」にのみ見えるエピソードも引用され作画されていて、
吾妻鏡を忠実に漫画化したものというよりは、鎌倉武士の動きを軸に、
平安時代から鎌倉時代への変遷を総合的に描いた作品、といったほうが適当でしょう。
史実ではぶさいくだったと言われる源義経が美男に描かれているのは突っ込まないであげてください。(笑
