この本を読んで、心が癒されました｡人は誰でも忘れられないほどの辛い過去が一つや二つあると思います｡心の傷をどうにか癒しつつ､前に向かって生きていかなければなりません｡これは小説なのですが､そういう人は沢山いて､自分だけが辛い思いをしているのではないと、逞しく生きなければと思いました｡

米花は最後まで謎の女性です｡私も最後まで彼女の本当の正体はつかめませんでした。彼女は沢山の男性を翻弄しますが､私はただの悪女とは思えませんでした。彼女もただひたすら､自分の幸せを探している独りの女性に過ぎないのではないでしょうか｡

宮本輝さんの作品のなかで最も好きな一冊です。初めて読んだのが夏だったせいか毎年夏になると読み返したくなります。あらすじを知っているのに何度読んでも不思議なほど引き込まれてしまう作品です。

誰が本当の主人公なのか。わたしには、一人称で登場するお二人ではなく、謎に包まれた女性「米花」こそ主人公ではないかと感じられます。読み手の立場によりそれぞれの登場人物に対する感想も大きく異なるであろうと思われる奥の深い作品で、周りの登場人物の話から徐々に「米花」の姿が見えてくるのが魅力です。

月光の東、それは誰にでも必要な心のよりどころ。ロマンチックな心を持つ方ならきっと共鳴なさる部分があると思います。

もう一人の主人公、未亡人の生き方に
とても共感しました。
弱かった彼女が、強くなっていく姿に
勇気をもらいました。
カウンセラーの先生と彼女のやりとりは
とても前向きで元気づけてくれます。

マイナス思考になっている方などに
是非読んでみて欲しい作品です。
