3.0 out of 5 stars あえて言うなら『優しきゴミ本』, 2004/4/22
うーん、勇気があるなこの出版を決めた人は。
そう言いたくなる本だ。
村上氏の名前が本を読まない人たちにも知られるようになったから出せた本のような気もするし、稲越センセが一般メディアに出るようになったからコラボレートしたのかなぁ、なんて勘ぐってしまう本でした。

それでも、電車を待つ時間や寝る前のほんの数分などの「小時間つぶし」には、向いている。
たわいもないのだ、内容が。
そして、写真と何がマッチしているのか理解できないのだ。
というか、写真が「どうしてそれ」なのか、理解に苦しむのだが、よく考えれば、『使い道のないものを合わせて作ってみた』と思えば、合点がいく。

出版社サイドの提案なのか、作者の提案なのかよく知らないが、ファン以外は、買う必要を見いだせない気がする。

ま、嫌いじゃないですけど、無名の人を使ってこういう事が出来ますか？と聞きたいな(それくらい、たわいないと感じた内容だ)。

　わずかな時間で気軽に肩の力を抜いて読み進むことができるフォトエッセイ。
　村上春樹氏は多くの旅を重ねつつも、自分には「旅行をしているのだという意識はほとんどなく、むしろ旅行はあまり好きではない」という。そんな彼がなぜあちこちを移り歩くのか、彼の旅に対する思いが三編のエッセイを通じて静かに語られている。

　稲越氏が切り取った異国の風景と村上氏の言葉は、読んでいる者にも異国の静かな風を感じさせてくれるような気がした。
　著書『世界の終わりとハードボイルド・ワンダーランド』や『ノルウェイの森』が書かれたきっかけや背景ついても少し触れられているので、村上ファンにもおすすめだと思います。

短いけれど何度も読みたくなる深い本。
私自身も人生の多くで旅をしているので、言葉の一つ一つが染み入ってきた。
なぜ人は旅立つのか。旅で見る風景は誰に見せることもできない、再生することもできない唯一の風景。それは誰のためでもない自分の風景。そんな他愛もない役に立たない風景を自分のために見せてあげることが旅なのであろう。
写真も見ると切なくなる。
素晴らしい本だと思う。文庫サイズというのがまたいい。
一緒に旅に出たくなる。
