１９７２年から７３年頃というのは、当時の少年にとっては、夢のような時代でした。

「マジンガーＺ」「デビルマン」「ドロロンえん魔くん」「バイオレンスジャック」など、永井豪という天才が生み出したコミックやＴＶアニメに、我を忘れて夢中になっていた時代なのです。その熱狂の凄さたるや、後のアニメブームにも匹敵するものでした。この永井豪傑作群の中でも、当時の少年の「思春期」の心の奥底まで多大な影響力を与えた作品、それがこの「キューティーハニー」なのです。

それはちょうど思春期の少年が、初めて恋した年上の大人のお姉さんみたいなもの。ハニーへの甘酸っぱい一途な恋心は、当時誰もが経験したはずです。少年たちは「マジンガーＺ」と同じくらい、いやそれ以上に「キューティーハニー」が大好きだった。ただ、気恥ずかしかったり、友達にひやかされるのがイヤだったりして、おおっぴらに好きだといえなかっただけなのです。

この作品は、いわゆる変身ヒロインものの元祖といえます。元祖ならではの素晴らしさがつまった作品です。でもそんな評論じみた位置付けよりも、我々のあの「初恋のお姉さん」と言った方が、みんなが納得するでしょう。この「キューティーハニー」は、決して汚されることなくいつまでも魅力的に輝きつづける、我々の大切な宝物にほかなりません。世の全ての永遠の少年たちが、この秘密の宝物の蓋を再び開かれんことを祈ります！

エッチな変身シーンで当時の男の子たちの心を捕らえたテレビアニメ版キューティーハニー。原作のマンガ版では、エッチ度がさらにアップしています。

でも、それだけじゃあないんですよね、キューティーハニーって。実はとっても暗く重い内容の物語なんです。父親は殺され、友人はハニーを守って死んでいく。そんな重苦しいものを和らげるためのエッチなんですよ（あるいは逆で、女性の裸を描きたかったんだけど、それだけのマンガと思われるのがイヤでワザと暗く悲しい話しにしたのかもしれませんが・・・。邪推ですね）。テレビアニメの影響もあるのでしょうが、ただのエッチなマンガだと思われていたら、とても残念ですね。
