朝鮮の戦前の詩の世界を紹介すると共に、言語的には非常によく似ていながら逐語訳しても詩としての良さが必ずしも伝わらないという二言語間の翻訳の問題にも切り込んでいる。一部原文も引用されているので語学力があれば尚深くこの本の内容を理解できるが、そうでなくとも読んでみて損はない。
