皮膚科学もここ数年、すごく進歩した。１９９９年に発行されたこの本は２０世紀の皮膚科学を締めくくる名著です。入門書としての価値は未だ高い。しかし俗悪皮膚本が跋扈する中、ちょっとパワーが足らないか。
読んでない人には薦めます。でも皮膚科学の最先端はもう少し先に行ってる。
皮膚の科学はこれから大きな転換を示すでしょう。

著者は東北大学医学部の皮膚科の教授で、NHKほっとモーニングなどに出演し、一般の人にもなじみの深い皮膚疾患についての啓蒙活動をされている方です。
紫外線の害からアトピーなどのアレルギー性疾患など、分かりやすく説明されています。雑誌などで紹介されている美肌術などを実践する前にちょっと目を通しておきたい本です。

「医学」とあるように、皮膚の異常・疾患を切り口に皮膚の構造・機能を説くスタイルをとっている。ただし、皮膚異常・疾患を網羅的に取り上げるのではなく、皮膚科学を俯瞰するための題材として代表的なものを選択しているようである。私自身は医学的な見地に立った皮膚科学には詳しくなかったのだが、読みやすく皮膚科学・医学の全体像を掴むのにも適していると感じた。
