本書は、人間が何かを学ぶ過程に於いて、いかなる状況が相互に連携しあっているのかを分析した本です。
「現実的必要から学ぶ」では、学校に進学出来ない街角のキャンディ売りが、その体験からだけで、四則計算を正しく身につけていることを明らかにします。ここで驚くのは、学校で計算方法を習った生徒よりも、根元的な部分での理解が深く、応用が利くと言う点で、まさに必要は発明の母を実証しています。

またこれら学びには、人間が生活している地域に於ける文化がとても大きな役割を果たしていると言う点もとても興味深く読めました。

本書は全体的に、ひとつの結論に収斂する書き方をしていませんから、各章をつまみ食い的に読むだけでも、十分楽しめるはずです。
知的好奇心を満たすために支払う金額としては、安くてお買い得な本だと思います。

従来の教師は有能で教わる側は劣っているという教育観を廃し、人は本来優秀な学習者であるとの教育観を説く。

知的好奇心により生まれながらにして有能な学習者である人が学ぶ状態である必要からの学習・能動的学習・言語の学習・数の学習、そしてそれを助ける文化・学習した内容に焦点を当て、それらを踏まえた上での新たな教育観を構築する。

効率のいい学習が自分でできているかを確認したくて購入、通読
読んでみると、人間の学ぶという行動を分析した上、学び手が外的環境に対してどのように接する、接されるのが学習を行う上で適しているかを記載されている本でした。興味をひかれたのは「メタ知識」「知的好奇心からの学習においては心的余裕が必要」「納得したい理由は安心したいため」などです。特に安心のために学ぶという姿勢は新しいことを学習において学習結果を自分の中でイメージするという姿勢につながると思います。また「メタ知識」についても、学習を上位から分析することの価値を改めて認識。
教え手として他者と接する人にはどのように、学び手と接するべきかのヒントが記載されていると思います。
