5.0 out of 5 stars 日本人に馴染みの薄い地政学を学ぶ上で最良の入門書である, 2006/2/18
地政学は、日本では戦後、軍国主義否定の名のもとに葬り去られてしまい、地政学の講義を置いている大学が皆無になるほどお寒い状況にありますが、日本以外の国では外交戦略や軍事戦略を決定する上で重要な役割を果たしています。この本はその地政学を分かりやすく解説した数少ない入門書として非常に役に立ちます。入門書なので内容もそんなに難解なものではない上に、新書なので値段も安く、地政学の概念を分かりやすく解説してあるので国際政治を学ぶ人だけでなく、広く地政学について少しでも関心のある人にはオススメの本です。

★地政学の発展の軌跡と基本的な概念を丁寧に説明してある点に好感を持てる。大東亜戦争において地政学の関わりが特に興味深い。しかし、この本を独学で読みこなすのは、大学生以上でないと難しいのではと思われる。もう少し平易な文章の方が社会人のためになるだろう。
★本書は２０年も前のものであるため、冷戦後の民族・宗教間の争いが言及されてないのは致し方ない。また、書中の図が見にくい。カラー地図などの追加と共に増補改訂版を望む。

　「地政学」の本を読みたくて、初めて手に取った本ですが、良いです。　入門書としては最適では、地政学の開祖
マッキンダー（英国）の海洋国の外交戦略の基礎としての大陸との関係の捉え方、彼の考え方が後の国際連盟、
ＮＡＴＯに繋がっていたとは・・・、ドイツのハウスホーファーの地政学、アメリカのモンロー主義にいたる変遷が
わかり易く纏められています。
　日露戦争に到るロシアの満州進出がドイツに後押しされていた事、シベリア鉄道がフランス資本の資金協力で建設
されていた事はこの本を読むまで知りませんでした。　日本は歴史上、大陸の中国との関係で捉えがちですが、より
広い世界観で捉えていく必要を感じました。
　日本は海洋国家であり、海上貿易によって成り立っていることは英国と同じで、第二次大戦までの大陸進出やドイツ
との同盟等が、地政学的に考えて間違いだったといえるので・・・、
　この本を読んだことによって国際関係の記事の読み方が変わりました。
国際関係を理解する上での必要な基礎知識だと思います。
