何もない空の上の戦闘機乗りのお話。シリーズ第３巻です。
主人公は空を飛ぶことが当たり前で、人を殺すことや自分が死ぬことについて、何の疑問も持っていない。主人公が当たり前だと思っていることには何も説明がついていないので、いつも感情移入してしまっています。戦闘機の用語などは分からないけれど、飛んでいる様子を映像にして追っていくと恐ろしくきれいです。
地上の世界の現実感のなさが、空中の詳細な書き込みとの対比で恐ろしく浮き上がってきます。私の日常も、本当は書く必要のない日常と、どこまでも突き詰めるべき思考とに分かれるのではないか？
読んでみて重力にしばられていることを感じるのです。この感覚は言葉ではきっとうまくいえません。
装丁だけでも、見てください。シリーズ三冊ともとてもきれいです。内容と装丁が素晴らしく合っています。

スカイ・クロラで衝撃を受けてナ・バ・テア、ダウン・ツ・ヘヴンと続けて購入しました。
戦闘機で空を舞うシーンは流れるように読めて、実際に自分がそう飛んでいるような気分になります。
また、独特な世界観にも引き込まれていき、読後はその世界観の余韻が残ります。
その世界観はスカイ・クロラから続くものなのですが、ナ・バ・テア、ダウン・ツ・ヘヴンでは、だた純粋に華麗に空を飛びたい想いと、飛ぶことに付いてくる他者の思惑との狭間で生きる一人の飛行機乗りを描いています。
個人的にスカイ・クロラからまだ知りたい謎がひとつ残っており、もし次回作が出るのならば今度こそ、そのことについて書いて欲しいです。

「スカイ・クロラ」「ナ・バ・テア｣に続く、シリーズ3冊目。青空、夕焼けと来て今回は曇り空が表紙です。書店では、ぜひ3冊並べて平積みしていただきたい・・・。
　戦闘機乗りの主人公から見た、世界。硬質な美しさを感じます。空中戦の場面は、詩のようです。
　何もかも説明してくれる親切（？）な小説ではありません。ゆっくりと、味わって読んでください。
