2002年4月に同社から発売された同名画集の廉価版です。
ハードカバーであったのをやめ、全体も薄手の紙に変更するなどしています。
印刷関係の知識は無いんで何という用紙か判らないのですが、オリジナルが光沢無しのラシャ紙みたいなのだったので、より原画に近い雰囲気が楽しめました。

それに対して本画集は薄手の光沢紙を使用しているので、原画の雰囲気からは少し遠ざかりましたね。
でも版の大きさはそのままですし、収録内容も同じです。

流石、山田画伯。天才的です。カラー原画もオススメですが、モノクロームの世界には脱帽です。白と黒の絶妙な配分。画を見ただけで、その小説が読みたくなってしまう様な、そそられる挿画の数々。
ただ、惜しむらくは、書き下ろし原画も見たかったと言う点かな。ファンは（マニアは）贅沢なのです。

これだけ美しい線を描く方の画集なのだから、読者はそれを見たがっていると理解しなければならない。
描線の美しさを伝えたいなら、なるべく原画に近い大きさ、状況が許すならさらに大きく収録しても良い。
安いグラビアのように小さくちりばめられてもしょうがない。
さらに無為な空白がもったいない。であれば、巻末にまとめて収録されている初出や著者コメント等のデータを絵に添えるべきだった。気が利いてない。読む者のことを考えていない。
縦横に走る波線に至っては、鑑賞の邪魔以外の何モノでもない。
繰り返す。気が利いてない。読む者のことを考えていない。
編集とデザインが「作品集」を台無しにしてしまった。
たいへん残念な出来。
しかしそれでも「作品」だけは本物だ。ファンは我慢して買うほか無い。
