初級練習曲（ブルグミュラー２５など）とツェルニー３０番程度の練習曲集との間をつなぐレベルの曲集はなかなか良いものがありません。この曲集もあまり良くないのです。最初はバイエル程度の簡単な課題なのですが中盤以降で急速に難度が上がり、最終的にはツェルニー４０番程度になってしまいます。そのためブルグ２５とツェルニー３０のつなぎとするためには、前半と後半を大幅にカットすることになります。
また、曲の出来そのものがあまり良くありません。あまりにも無味乾燥なんですね。ブルグ２５では１曲ごと愛らしいタイトルが付いていますので興味を持って練習できますが、この曲集はタイトルも付いていませんので子供さんなどは練習嫌いになってしまうことが多いと思います。同レベルの曲集でどうしてもツェルニーをということであれば「リトル・ピアニスト」の方が曲としての起承転結もあり、楽しく練習できると思います。
