同種の本、数冊に目を通してみた。本書もギャンブル依存者の実態、対応など共通したところはあるが、依存症に対する国や地方行政、医療機関の現状にして積極的な関与をアピールしているところには同感で大いに彼らと接触し依存者救済を進めていくべきだと考える。読者は、ある国、地方行政、民間医療機関などに接触したことが、これらの対応にもどかしさを感じた。対応できる機関を少なくとも１都市に１機関は欲しいし、サラ金やヤミ金対策も厳重な対策を講じるべきだ。筆者が述べているように、２００万の依存者と悩み疲れるかれらの家族や親兄弟などに対する対策を早急に立てないと日本はこわれていくだろうと読者も思う。

依存症について詳しく述べた本。
なぜそのような病的賭博へと陥ってしまうかと
もし、家族が陥った場合の対処法がかかれた本であります。

でも残念ながら、
これらの依存症があまり理解されていない日本にとって
今、充実感のあふれる治療の行えるところは
少ないと思っていいかと思います。
おまけにギャンブルのCMが平然と流されている今日ですし。
この国でこの病気を抑えるのは困難だと思います。

ただし、これ以上放置をしてはいけない、
という著者の考えには賛同できます。
これ以上街中にある｢グレーゾーン｣な賭博施設は
必要ないと思いますし。

ギャンブル依存症について、多角的な視点から検討を加えた本だ。著者は精神科医・作家だが、法的観点からの指摘、政策提言などもなかなか的を射ているところがあるのには感心した。
ただ、治療が必要だと書いてあるのはよいが、どうなれば治ったことになるかの記述が不足している。これでは現に苦しんでいる方々の福音にはならないだろう。
以上のように、検討の的確性は星５つだが、肝心な治療に関する見解がイマイチで（星３つレヴェル）、この本では後者のほうが特に重要だと考えるので、星３つとする。

医学の名を借りたただの八つ当たり本にしか思えません。
これでギャンブル依存と闘っても勝ち目はなさそうに思えますが。
