この本には美、愛、仕事、そして彼の不特定多数からなる“Ｂ”との友好関係などさまざまなジャンルにおけるＡｎｄｙなりの解釈の仕方がかなり詳しく書いてあります。もちろん彼のああいった性格上（今日言ったことと昨日言ったことが全く違う）、彼自身を把握することはほとんど不可能なことではありますが、この本を読めば彼がどのような人かというあいまいな雰囲気がつかめるでしょう。しかし、それにしてもやはりＡｎｄｙはすごく頭の切れる人ですね。

現代美術の超有名人、アンディ・ウォーホル(1987年没)の哲学をまとめた本です。
数行~1ページ程度の、短い警句や雑感集なので、軽く読めます。

東京で1番美しいものはマクドナルド。

ストックホルムで1番美しいものはマクドナルド。

フィレンツェで1番美しいものはマクドナルド。

北京とモスクワはまだ美しいものがない。(p.99)

(注:当時はまだ中国にもソ連にもマクドナルドがなかった)

もう1つ、行きますか。

美容上の問題があるとする。
新しくできたニキビや、光沢のない髪、不眠症の眼、
腹の周りに増えた余計な脂肪という類。
それがなんであれそれも口に出して言えばいいんだ。

ぶっちゃけて言わないと。(中略)
「クリスマスにチョコレート食べ過ぎて
　3キロも太っちゃったわ、体重落とさなきゃ」という具合に。

言わなかったら一時的な問題なのにそれこそ永遠の問題だと思われてしまう。
会ったばかりの人にそんなこと思われちゃたまんないよね。(p.91)

アンディ・ウォーホルの自伝風の本『ぼくの哲学』を読んだ。凄い面白かった。強烈でユニークな価値観は他に類を見ない。(ちなみに僕の会社でのコーヒーカップはずっと『Adobe Illustrator』のビーナスをポップアートにしたウォーホルのデザインだ。)強烈でユニークであると言うことは、それだけくだらない批判も多いと言うことだというのが良く分かる。でも、ダイヤモンドは傷つかないのだ。

この本のなかでまさにウオーホルは全開だ。ピカソの生涯かけての4000枚の作品に対して、自分なら一日で出来ると言っている。確かに彼の作品の大半はシルク・スクリーンだからやる気になれば一日で出来てしまう。一枚が傑作ならば、全て傑作だから確かにそれはその通りだ。なにかそこにはデジタルな傑作が次々と世に出ていく現代の走りのようなものを感じる。

つまらない小説より、すごい人の伝記の方が数倍面白いと思う。
