恥ずかしながら”巨匠”である作者のことは知りませんでした。
高価な本なのでためらいましたが、いつも乱読しているビジネス書
ではなくて、しっかりとした文学が読みたかったので思い切って
購入しました。

内容については、他に任せますがとにかく久しぶりに読書を楽しんでいます。
500ページ超の大作（私にとっては）ですが、いつもの短時間でむさぼるように
読むのではなく1ページ1ページしっくりとページをめくりました。

翻訳が素晴らしいので違和感なく物語の世界に入り込めるのも大きなポイントでした。

とても素晴らしく下巻を読むのが今から楽しみです。
現地点では星5つでも良いのですが、やはり今後の展開で最後がどうなるのかが
気になりますのであえて星4つです。

私のように普段”文学”を読まない仕事人間でも楽しめる作品ですので、
多くの方にお奨めできます。

長いなぁと思いながらも、ページを繰ってしまいました。
随所に笑いがあり、そのちょっとした笑いの中に悲しみが隠れていて、不思議な気持ちで最後まで読みました。
実在のハリウッド映画人が登場するくだりは思わずくすっと笑えます。
実際長いのだけれど、それがまた心地よくなってくる作品です。
原文でも読んでみたくなりました。

父を知らないジャックが俳優となるまでに、女の海を泳ぐ上巻。
男どもより女との経験があることが、若い男など物の数ではないと思わせる。
その女の海を泳ぐジャックに触れる上巻。
