起こった事故は悲惨だし、幽霊にまとわりつかれるというのも怖い。しかし、明るくさらりと好感が持てる描き方だ。死んでしまった亮太にも悲壮感がまったくない。ただ、ひょうきんな彼がときおり見せるホンネの心が切なくて、ぐっとくる。誰だって死にたくはない。まして突然の事故でなんて・・・。悲しむ両親の姿を、幽霊の亮太が見るシーンは胸に迫るものがあった。ラストにも、ホロリとさせるものがある。死んでしまっても決して終わりではない。そう信じたい気持ちになった。

ある晩、ひき逃げされた若者の幽霊にまとわりつかれた「僕」。
調子のいい“若者幽霊”と真面目で不器用なハンバーガーショップの社員「僕」が好対照で、そのほかの登場人物もいい感じ。
テンポもよく、会話も笑え、特に「幽霊」と「僕」とのプロレス・ゲームを挟んだやりとりは羨ましくも思えたりして。
そんな２人が犯人探しに繰り出していく・・・
と、ストーリーはなんとなくよくありそうなんだけど、油断してると「ほろり」とさせられちゃう（ボクもそんな１人だったり）。
犯人探しや２人の友情だけじゃないところが「ほろり」だったのかも。
ファンタジー＋αな小説でした。

　ひき逃げを目撃した会社員草野。被害者である大学生亮太は幽霊となってしまうが、行く当てがないため草野につきまとう。入社して二年あまりで仕事に忙殺されている草野だが、亮太と過ごすうちに、自分を取り戻していく。
　よくある設定だが、等身大に描かれた主要登場人物が生きている。ハンバーガーチェーンの社員として働く様子も興味深い。ひき逃げだから犯人探しもあるが、それは本筋ではないからそっちに期待して読むと肩すかしをくらうかもしれない。単調になりそうな本筋に、ほかの霊たちとのエピソードを入れることで、それまでいまひとつ曖昧だった登場人物の輪郭が明確になった。ひき逃げ犯人を除き、登場人物のほとんどが善人という点で甘さは否定できないが、全体の明るいトーンに読後感は爽やかだ。
