恋愛のはじまる感じがうまいな〜。
ちょっとしたことが気になって、好きになっていく。
自分は相手を好きだけど、相手はどうなんだろう。
きっと相手も自分と同じ思いでいてくれるだろう…。
と、思っていたら…。
相手が変わると価値観が変わる。
嫌だったことが好ましくなったり、前の恋愛で気がつかなかったことに気づいたり。
流石、角田さんはお上手。
この作品で、角田さんは仕事と複雑に絡み合った恋愛を書きたかったそうです。
そのあたりも、よく伝わりました。
でも…、『森に眠る魚』のインパクトが強すぎました。

全員がふられる短編連作。
新聞の宣伝では、「この中にあなたの姿もある」と書かれてあり、読む前から信じました。
登場人物がたくさんいれば、ひとりは自分と似たタイプはいてもおかしくはない。
しかし、この中に私の姿はいませんでした。
ちょと似た気持ちを抱いたことはあると思える短編はありましたが、
カタルシスは感じられませんでした。
連作の構成も、前作『森に眠る魚』と似ていますが、
登場人物が多く混乱しそうになるという点を克服し、サクサクと読めます。
短編を二つ読んだ時点でパターンが分かってしまい読むのが苦痛になりました。
ユーミンや中島みゆきの失恋の歌を聴いた気分になるのかとも予感しましたが、
何度も読むのを投げ出したくなりました。

しかし、この技術力、引き出しの多さ、次々と新刊を発表していく腕力は
作家として賞賛できます。
今回は合わなかったけれど、今後も注目していきたいと思います。

yomyomを購読しているのですでに全作読んでいたけど
すべてまとまっているものが欲しいかなって思って購入。
川上弘美さんもyomyomに連載していた短編を本にしたけど
こちらは書き下ろし作品もあって、買って損はなかった。
くまちゃんは、yomyomをそのまま載せただけでお得感はなかった。

yomyomも２回ほど読み返していたので新鮮さはないかなと
思ったけど繰り返し読むことによっていろいろ発見があって
面白かった。しかも自分は速読な性質なので見落として読んでいる
部分もあって、光の子の苑子について３回目にこの単行本で読んで
「えっ、そうだったのか」と新たな事実を発見してびっくり。
そういう連作短編ならではのしかけが面白かった。

すべてふられる話だけど、角田さん特有のブラックさはなく
あくまでもどの話もさっぱりとしているので読みやすかった。
また忘れたころに繰り返して読めそうで買った価値はあったかな。
