よく出来たミステリだったと思う。「本格ミステリ」という枠内にきっちりと収めきった印象。
しかし「本格ミステリ」の枠内にきれいに収められる作家というのは、あまりいない。
多くの作家は、枠から少しはみだそうとしたり、枠の中でオリジナリティを出そうとして小説としてのバランスを崩す。
有栖川は「本格ミステリ」を忠実に模写しようとする。
惰性で書きつづけるのでもなく、ミステリというジャンルと格闘するのでもなく、ただただ「本格ミステリ」の美しさを称えつづける。
単に保守的なのではなく、おそらくその魅力に飽くことなく魅せられつづけているからなのだろう。
この一途さ、ピュアさこそが有栖川有栖の最大の魅力なのではないかと、私は思う。

シリーズ初の孤島もの、紛うことなき本格推理です。
良かったのは技術的・知識的にかなり新しいテーマを積極的に調べて取り入れていること。
それと同時にエドガー・アラン・ポーという推理小説の原点がモチーフとして登場するのは、現代と過去との対比として面白かったです。
また、「時間」が一種のテーマになっているように感じたのですが、その捉え方が綺麗で有栖川先生らしいなあと思いました。
そして、何よりもロジック。
初期クイーン作品を髣髴とさせる論理が愛しくてしょうがありません。だから有栖川先生が大好きです。
冗長な推理は苦手という方には敬遠されてしまうかもしれないのですが、ロジックがしっかりした作品が好きな方にはお勧めしたいです。
ちょっとイマイチだったかな、と思ったのは動機の部分を意味深に何度も問いすぎたことでしょうか。少々くどかったように思います。
その動機自体も、実感として理解するのは難しかったです。 美しいとは思いましたが。

待望の火村シリーズの長編。
今回はトリックというよりも、犯人や、その状況の動機の謎がメインであって。
破天荒な、ストーリではないけれど、丁寧に書かれた本格ミステリはやっぱりおもしろい。
そう実感させてくれた。


もう少し、せめて１年か２年に１作でてきていただけると、なおうれしい。


あ、株取引の部分で、ちょっと微妙なところがあったかな。
信用のみ可能で現物ではムリだけど、そこのところは曖昧だった。(わかる人にはわかる)
ただ物理的に破綻しているわけではないです、はい。
