本書はさくらももこ氏によるエッセイであり、彼女がモーニング娘。の各メンバーと一緒に体験したことについて書き記したもの。それに加えて、仕事や日常生活などに関する娘。へのインタビューと、彼女自身が娘。を撮影したスナップ写真も収録されている。愛情溢れる文章から、娘。たちに対するさくら氏の敬意と、彼女に心を開いた娘。たちの飾らないリラックスした雰囲気が伝わってくる好企画。唯一の不満は、さくら氏が娘。たちを描いたイラストがなかったこと。あくまでもエッセイであって漫画ではないので、仕方がないのかもしれない。

　決してハコイリじゃない元気一杯のモーニングの娘たちのことが、今までの何倍も好きになってしまう。

　モー娘。の彼女達のささやかな(?)願いを実現するため、つきあってくれた著者のさくらももこさんが、結成時からの熱心なファンだというのが、なにより良かった。さくらさんはメンバーの加入当時のいろいろな細かいことまで知っていて、その上でファンに代わって一人一人にインタビューしている。喜びだけじゃなくって、つらいこともいっぱいあったんだ。

　ほかのこれまでにもたくさんあったアイドルグループと違って、なぜモー娘。のメンバーは団結力が強くて、仲が良いのか。その秘密も少しわかったような気がします。
　一度読んで、それで終りじゃなく、何かの時に取り出して読むと、メンバーたちから元気がもらえそう。そんな気もしました。

　本文中におさめられている、さくらさんが自ら写した娘たちのスナップ写真は、テレビなどではあまり見られない表情もあって、どれもみんなかわいい。
　モー娘。ファンどうしで、この本についていろいろ話し合ったりしたら楽しいだろうな。

さくらももこさんと接した素顔のモーニング娘。さくらももこさんの観点から見たテレビでは見ることのできないモーニング娘。の素顔と新たな魅力。感動の１冊です。
