子供が苦手な私でさえ、サキちゃんとママのやりとりを見ていると、親子っていいなあ、とやさしい気持ちになります。サキちゃんとママは、守る・守られる、とか教育する・されるなんていう一方的な関係ではなく、一つの「チーム」のように仲良しで対等です。彼女らの日常はささやかなやさしさと愛情に満ちていて、親子とはかくありたいなあ、というあたたかさです。親子で読んでもいいかも。

この文庫の梨木香歩の解説はパーフェクトである。『日常は意識して守護されなければならない。』北村薫の魅力をこの一言で見事に現してくれて、私はいたく満足である。そうなのだ。『私と円紫』シリーズにしても『覆面作家』シリーズにしても、その隠れた『本格推理』水準の高さを誉めた解説子は多くいたが、北村が何故日常にあれほどこだわっていたかを解説してくれた人はいなかった。この本は母と子供の物語である。母親が読んでも充分に面白いだろうが、本当は父親こそ読むべきだろうと思う。母親にこんなにもおかしく面白く知性に満ちた子供との関係を任せて良いものだろうか、ときっと思うだろうから。

お母さんと女の子の可愛いやり取りや普段の生活の中での微笑ましい出来事が盛り沢山。「友達親子」その言葉がピッタリなのです。子供の心を持ったお母さんと大人びているけどお母さんの作家と言うお仕事がちょっぴり自慢の小学生のさきちゃん。読んでいてふんわりしてそれでいて、ピリッと笑いが入っていて。北村先生の意外な一面も垣間見られるし、おーなりさんのイラストも心が和んでいいですよ！私のいつでもいつまでも読み返す楽しみがある一冊です。
