7つのうち、「銀色のかぎ針」と「缶入りドロップ」は
それぞれ３〜４ページ程度の短いお話です。

すべての話に共通するのは、
主人公が昨日までは知らなかった誰かと出会い、
その人の触れ合うことによって、
大切な思い出であったり、時間であったりを共有すること。

小川洋子さん独特のつかみどころのない、
浮遊するような不思議なお話ばかり。
描写も美しく、じっくりどっぷり小川ワールドに浸れます。

いちばん素敵だったのは「バタフライ和文タイプ事務所」。
硬質に、間接的に、性を描いた作品。
ただタイプを打つ音だけが鳴り響く静けさと、タイプを打つ指先のかろやかな動き。
これは大人じゃないとわからないいやらしさがあるっ！
でも、それが下品じゃなくすごく上品で、
むしろ、とっても美しい。

現実ではないどこかへ・・・
しばし夢心地に浸れるような味わい深い作品でした。

　表題作の『海』が素敵です。恋人の実家を訪れる“僕”と、彼女の弟とのぎこちない夜。弟は“鳴鱗琴”という楽器を演奏できるといいます。
　『風薫るウィーンの旅六日間』では、たまたま同室になった女性に付き合って、昔の恋人のいる病院を訪ねることになる“私”。
　『バタフライ和文タイプ事務所』は、和文タイピストと会話のみのつながりしかない活字管理人が登場します。言葉と漢字によるエロチックさが際立ちます。ひとつひとつの短い台詞にエロチシズムを感じさせる計算された作品だと思います。大人の女性ならではの短編なのではないでしょうか。
　『銀色のかぎ針』と『缶入りドロップ』はわずか数ページの小編。
　ホテルのドアマンとして働く男と、下宿先の口をきかない幼い少女の物語『ひよこトラック』。
　最後の『ガイド』は、観光ガイドの母親のツアーに潜り込んでいるしっかり者の“僕”と不思議な老人の話。
　いずれも、少し変わってはいるものの、ごく普通の人と人とのつながりを、美しい言葉で描いています。ちょっとしたことが、ある時、人と人とを強く惹き合せることがある、そう感じさせる7編です。私は、表題作と『バタフライ和文タイプ事務所』がおもしろいと思います。

結婚のあいさつに行った泉さんの実家には、両親と９０歳の祖母と１０歳下の小さな（？）
弟が住んでいた。夜弟の部屋で、僕と弟が語ったことは？表題作を含む７編を収録。

表題作の「海」はとても不思議な話だった。ざらざらした手で心を逆なでされるような
ざわざわした感触を味わった。僕が泉さんの実家で体験したことや、僕と弟の会話。
何気ないといえば何気ないことなのだろうが、読んでいて引き込まれていった。鳴鱗琴の
音色はどんな音色なのか？
また、特に印象に残ったのは「ひよこトラック」だった。言葉を介さない男と少女の触れ
合いが細やかに描かれている。「命」に対する作者の思いも垣間見えるし、ラストのまとめ
方もとてもよかった。
どの話にも深みがあり、行間にさまざまなことが隠されているようで面白かった。
