恩田 陸
1964年、宮城県生れ。早稲田大学卒。92年、日本ファンタジーノベル大賞の最終候補作となった『六番目の小夜子』でデビュー。活字でしか味わえない恐怖と、活字でこんなことが出来るのかという感動を同時に与え、注目を浴びる。ホラー、SF、ミステリなど、既存のジャンル枠にとらわれない、独自の作品世界で沢山のファンを持つ。エッセイ集として『小説以外』などがある。2005年、『夜のピクニック』で、第26回吉川英治文学新人賞と第2回本屋大賞を受賞し、06年には、『ユージニア』で、第59回日本推理作家協会賞長編部門を受賞した(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

”夜のピクニック”か何かをきっかけに気になりだし、
恩田陸作品のファンの知人のススメもあって、本書も読んでみました。
短編が沢山入っているのですが、どれも印象的で面白い！

1つだけ難点をあげるなら、
私は結構怖がりしなので、
本書には不気味だったり怖い話が何編もある（というかほとんど、というのが私の印象なのですが？
ので、朝の電車など、話の内容とは明暗逆なところで読みました。

最初に書いたように1つ1つが印象的な作品です。
少年の話もみかんの話も超短篇も・・・怖いのでもう書きませんが。
ファンの方はもちろん読むべきだし（まだ読んでいないものがあるなら）、
ちょっと興味あるな、って言う人も読んで、『おっ』と魅力にはまったらいいと思います。

恩田陸さんって奇妙な題材の作品を書くんだな。と分かりました。

表題作「朝日のようにさわやかに」を含む全14編の短編集。

「図書館の海」以来、5年ぶりとなる短編集。
アンソロジーとした発表した短編は購入したが、雑誌や新聞の単発掲載など、今まで見られなかったものが収録されていて嬉しい限り。
発表時期が99年から06年とかなりの開きはあるが、作品群全体を通じた底辺の雰囲気は統一されていて、氏の作品の完成度が伺える。

上記した前作同様、ＳＦ、学園、ミステリ、ホラーと数多くのジャンルを網羅しているが、前作に比べてホラー色が強くなった。すでに発表されている別作品とリンクしているものが少しあるが、未読でも全く大丈夫な仕様になっている。

恩田作品ではおなじみのあの学園の面々が登場するお話もあれば、
ホラーあり（しかもスプラッターホラーのようなモノまで！）、ショートショートありの
いろんなものが詰め込まれた作品集でした。
さまざまなタイプの「恐怖」にゾクゾクしつつも楽しめます。

中でも一番好きなのは「冷凍みかん」。
タイトルのユルユル感とはうらはらにスケールが大きく、
想像力を激しく刺激される意欲作。

「卒業」は短すぎて、状況が把握できぬ間に終わってしまうけど、
そのほんの一瞬の恐怖だけを切り取って作品にしちゃうってのもありなのかも！？
私が短編を嫌いな理由は「世界観を堪能する前に終わってしまう短さ」だったのですが、
瞬間を楽しむことが文学でも成立するのだと、この本で知りました。
これは今後、短編やショートショートを楽しむ上では大きな収穫です☆
